Our free, peer-led programs offer education, skills, and understanding for individuals living with mental health conditions, as well as their families, friends, and caregivers.   • Free Programs

    NAMI Free Programs

    All of NAMI’s signature programs are offered at no cost to participants—because support and education should never come with a barrier. These programs are led by trained volunteers who have lived experience and are designed to offer practical tools, emotional support, and connection for individuals and families affected by mental health conditions.

    Family-to-Family is a structured 8-session class for families, significant others, and friends of people with mental health conditions. It offers education, insight, and a supportive community to help loved ones understand and navigate mental illness together.

    Peer-to-Peer is an 8-session course for adults living with mental health conditions. It provides a space to explore recovery, build skills, and connect with others through shared experience.

    Ending the Silence is an engaging presentation designed for middle and high school students, school staff, and families. It raises awareness, reduces stigma, and encourages early help-seeking.

    In Our Own Voice features individuals sharing personal stories of living with mental illness. It’s a powerful way to promote understanding and inspire hope through lived experience.

    Family Support Group is a safe, judgment-free space for family members and caregivers to share experiences, gain insight, and support one another.

    Connection Support Group is a weekly recovery support group for adults with mental health conditions, led by trained peers who understand firsthand.

  • 988 suicide and crisis lifeline

    Crisis Resources

    If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, immediate help is available.

    Hope Pointe Crisis Center in Tuscaloosa offers 24/7 walk-in care for mental health and substance use emergencies. Located at 1401 Greensboro Avenue, they provide triage, observation, and stabilization services. For more information, visit Hope Pointe Crisis Center.​

    Indian Rivers Behavioral Health operates Mobile Crisis Teams that respond to individuals in crisis within the community. These teams provide on-site intervention and support. For assistance, call 205-391-3131. Additional details can be found on the Indian Rivers Behavioral Health website.​

    Crimson Care Skyland offers urgent mental health services during business hours at 1771 Skyland Blvd E, Tuscaloosa, AL. They provide walk-in care without the need for an appointment. For more information, visit Crimson Care Skyland.​crimsoncare
